Last Friday, I was able to reach Pulau Aman along with a couple of excited friends. We depart from Penang Island at 8.30 am. Normally it will only took around 30 minutes to get to Jetty Batu Musang near Stadium Batu Kawan where we will took the boat to Pulau Aman but because of the road construction our convoy of two cars had to take a detour and we arrived at the Jetty in an hour. Plus, the detour roads are very bumpy and full of holes. Thankfully our Kancil manage to survive all of the tremors.

Arrival! |
Then, the 6 adventurers went to look for the boat but unfortunately Syahmi and Uzer had something more urgent to do. So, while waiting for them to return from the gents we miss the boat. It doesn't matter because I was able to take a few breathtaking photos from the Jetty.

The floating market which sells fish etc. |
After 20 minutes our boat arrived. I was praying hard that no sudden storm or monstrous wave will came crushing our boat. If our boat sank the first thing I'll save is my camera because it was a loan from my friend, Puteri. Thanks Put for the camera.

The fishing village in view |
I was disappointed because I thought the boat will be a speed boat and I was expecting the ride to Aman Island will be an adrenaline pumping experience but unfortunately the boat moved at the speed of a turtle. Enough with the complaint! Lets go back to the story. We arrive safely at Pulau Aman and looking at the beach it occurred to us that there will be no sea bathing for that day. I don't think the Island 's main attraction is the beach because the beach is muddy and the water is cloudy. It might be a good spot to breed crab and 'ikan belacak' or mud skipper but no thank you I will not step into the water.

A floating restaurant which sells spicy but delicious 'mee udang' or prawn noodle |
It was a long journey to come here so our stomach were already growling and our tour guide, Uzer suggested for us to try the prawn noodle. Being the first timer tourist we were eager to try anything local so we ordered the RM6 prawn noodle.
|
The famous mee udang |
The noodle was delicious and the prawns are pretty big but it was too spicy for my taste since I am very picky about spicy food. After eating we lounged a while at the restaurant enjoying the breeze and the scenery before exploring the island.
Then the real tiring adventure started.
|
Taking a leisure walk near the sea side. We were not sure where the road will lead so we just continue to follow where the pavement will lead us. |
|
A nice hut 'pondok' overlooking the sea |

What do they call these tree again?...emmm I don't remember so lets call it the 'tree-with-branch-sticking-out' |
|
Surprisingly the leisure walk turn into a hiking route. We were obviously not equip to go hiking. Syahmi and Alip were wearing slippers but nonetheless, our curiosity urged us to go on. |
|
Marie easily duck the fallen tree. This is the route the curious adventures challenged on. Ganbare! |
Unfortunately the route become too hard for us to go on so we had to turn back. But we found a good spot to pose for some photos. For half an hour the Jetty Point was conquered by us.

How did thing turn out like this? No idea.... |
Then we move on to venture the other side of the island and come across with some places with amazing view.
|
At the tip of Pulau Aman. We can see the neighboring island ahead |
Pulau Aman is a really peaceful and quiet fishing village befitting of its name 'Aman' for 'peace'. Usually, most of the tourist expect to have some fun activities such as snorkeling, scuba diving or kayaking offered at an island but Aman Island is an exception because it offer none other than its peacefulness itself. Thus, for the city folk like us who are used to the buzzing of the city, Aman Island give us a chance to take it slow and just walk around enjoying the scenery. Despite of the lack of activities offered, we manage to make our own fun activities to fill up the time.
|
For tourist who like to stay fit there are some outdoor exercise equipment. Caution: do not use us as an example. |

The Golden Well or Telaga Emas |
|
Notice the yellowish stone than was once mistaken as gold by the villagers in the history |
|
We came across the Telaga Emas and took some time investigating it. According to the history, the Telaga Emas was founded when a villager start digging a spring near the beach. Surprisingly he discovered a golden pot hidden in the ground but when he went to tell the other villagers about it the pot had gone missing when he return to the place. The only thing left was the rock which is golden in color. Ever since then the place was made into a well and named Telaga Emas. My theory is that the golden pot really exist because the location is near Gedong Island which had once became a place where pirates hoarded their treasures. Maybe the golden pot was one of the pirates missing or hidden treasures. I am sure Telaga Emas held some other exciting stories forgotten by the natives.

In the evening, we decided to say good bye to Pulau Aman. We enjoyed our fun and exiting trip to this peaceful island. Before we went back we bought some kerepek sukun 'sukun chips' which taste like kerepek pisang 'banana chips'. It was really an eye opening adventure especially to me and I could feel my feet getting itchy for next adventure. Till then, happy reading.
